NIMAC Policies and Procedure IATP NIMAC Policies and Procedure ATP is an Authorized User (AU) of the National Instructional Materials Access Center (NIMAC). This allows IATP to work with Illinois school districts K-12 to lookup formats for instructional materials e.g. textbooks in the NIMAC database. The following are policies and procedures that have been developed and will be followed by IATP when providing alternative formats from the NIMAC: * All requests must be submitted through the Alternative Formats: Textbook request system on IATP homepage * Requests MUST be made by a school district representative * IATP will dispense raw National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standard (NIMAS) files to the school district representative * The requester will be responsible to provide a way to transport the file e.g. flash drive, or CD/DVD * If the format in which IATP downloaded the file is not in a compatible format which the educational facility can use, IATP will give the educational facility a list of Authorized Media Producers in Illinois. Authorized Media Producers are not affiliated with IATP and may charge any educational facility to convert the downloaded file into a compatible format. Procedures for requesting Alternative Format Materials: * Request will be received through the IATP Alternative Formats: Textbook request system * Requests will be required to have Title, ISBN Number, Author, Publisher Name, and Copyright Date * Based upon the information submitted IATP will take the following steps: * Check NIMAC, BookShare.org, Learning Ally, APH or other online available databases for availability of the textbook in a digital format, if not available * Check with publisher to see if a digital format of the textbook is available outside of the above mentioned database, if not available * Direct school district to an authorized media producer (AMP) in Illinois that could provide them with the service of digitizing the textbook at the district’s expense
